A kilograms only Patient Transfer Scale offers a safe solution for facilities standardizing on metric-only measurements. This kg version of the Patient Transfer Scale is especially useful for Stroke Units where quick and accurate patient weights are crucial and where dosages of critical medications are based on kilogram measurements.

A former Emergency Department Nurse, Gillian Taylor, invented the Patient Transfer Scale. In her conception of the PTS, she said, “I realized that if a patient is weighed as they are transferred to a bed, using a transfer board, they can be weighed quickly without time being taken to weigh them. This means as soon as the patient is admitted to hospital, there is a weight reading that can be used to accurately administer medication as soon as possible.” In addition to Stroke Units, the PTS can provide value in a Trauma Unit, the ICU and Pediatrics and can be utilized as part of an existing patient transfer process.
