The Only Wheelchair Scale that Meets New Technical Requirements for Medical Diagnostic Equipment
McCook, IL February 27, 2024 – Pelstar LLC, the manufacturer of Health o meter® Professional Scales, announces the latest addition to its extensive line of wheelchair scales, the new ADA Compliant 2620KL Digital Wheelchair Scale with Dual Ramps and Extra-Large Platform. This new product was specifically designed to meet the MDE Standards for Accessible Medical Diagnostic Equipment. The scale features a 32” x 40” large platform that accommodates almost any size wheelchair with a 2” front edge guard to prevent a mobility device from falling off the scale. For additional ease of use and protection, the scale’s dual on/off ramps also feature 2” edge guards on both sides of the ramps as well as a 1:8 slope that provides a safer and more accessible gradient for wheelchair users. Utilizing this new scale not only provides a safer and more comfortable patient weighing experience, it also ensures compliance with ADA rules that mandate facilities utilize equipment that meets certain accessibility standards, which is enforced by the Department of Justice.*
Continuing the company’s design philosophy of providing “backwards compatible” products, Health o meter® Professional Scales also developed an ADA compliant retrofit kit for facilities that already utilize 2600KL and 2610KL series of scales. Available as 2600ADAKIT, this kit provides components such as a platform edge guard and new ramps to modify the existing scale and bring it into compliance with the new MDE standards. By following ADA compliance requirements facilities can protect themselves against discrimination lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
