Gold Rollboards Welch Allyn®, a leading medical diagnostic device company, recently announced that they have been working with Epic software developer to connect several of Welch Allyn vital signs devices and monitors to Epic's EMR systems. Connecting Welch Allyn devices with Epic EMR systems can help eliminate the need for manual data entry, increase efficiency and alleviate the risk of transcription errors. Epic users that have Health o meter® Professional Scales can benefit from this development because of the scale’s ability to connect with Welch Allyn devices. Via the Connectivity Kit Adapter, Health o meter® Professional scales can interface with Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs® LXi, Connex® Vital Signs Monitors, and Connex Integrated Wall Systems. This adapter allows the transfer of weight, height, and BMI measurements from a Health o meter® Professional digital scale to a Welch Allyn Device. Therefore, the data from a Health o meter® Professional scale can be transmitted into an Epic system via the Welch Allyn connection. Per the Welch Allyn announcement, by establishing connectivity between Welch Allyn devices and the EMR, clinicians are able to transfer patient test results directly between diagnostic devices (such as scales) and the EMR-- resulting in immediate access to accurate patient data and improved workflow.
